So, you want to go windsurfing … great! At Plankenkoorts you are at the right place, because our surfmotto is: as much windsurfing as possible for the least amount of money possible. On this page you can find all steps that you can take at the association to go from an absolute noob to a real surf-pro.
The start: Windsurfinglessons at VB
It all starts with the first step, and for windsurfing the first step is at the Valkenburgse Meer (known at the association as VB or Vb or vb) As long as the temperature is not too cold you can follow up to three windsurfinglessons per week here, where all the basics are explained to you. You will learn how to stand on a board for the first time, steer, turn, use a harness and much more!
Typically, the lessons are from April till October, with a break during the summer vacation. Lessons are on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 until 17:00. Everything will be taken care of by Lesson Commission (the only thing you need to take with you are swim shorts, bikini or swimsuit and a towel). Signing up for lessons can be done up to four days before the lesson, via this page.
If you have enough confidence and experience to go to VB without any lesson givers you can ask the Zeta (which is a board title) for your own key to the windsurfing teachingcenter.
After that: go to other water with one of the PK busses
As soon as you are done with learning at VB (you can use a harness, plane and beachstart) the next step is to go with one of the busses from Plankenkoorts. If you have your own windsurfing gear you can store them at the Homespot (HS) in Delft and from there you can load your gear into the busses. If you do not have your own gear yet, you can make use of the Studslet: a gear set that everyone can borrow up to three times to get a feel for what it is like to go with the busses.
For the first times going with the bus it is best to go inner water bodies, for example, because you do not have to deal with waves like at sea. As soon as you think you are experienced enough to go to sea, ask an experienced member to see if they think this is a good idea. To ride with one of the busses you can sign up via bus-online, more information about the codes of conduct regarding bus usage can be found at the codes of conduct of the association.

Going abroad: on a blitztrip or surfari
The Netherlands has a lot of nice surspots, but sometimes you just want more. For this you can go with Plankenkoorts on a trip abroad. During the summer and winter vacations there are trips throughout Europe for windsurfers of every level (having your own gear is handy for this). But you are not limited to just vacations. If you see that there is wind somewhere, gather a couple association members and go on Blitztrip. You can find more about this at the FAQ-page.
